How to gain confidence at the gym?

Does it feel a bit scary to go to the gym as a beginner? Here’s a guide for you who want to feel better both outside and inside the gym and experience a sense of accomplishment!

Confidence can also be trained

You can start by going to a gym and noticing what thoughts come up so that you can handle them in the right way. If negative thoughts about your surroundings arise, that’s completely normal; you might feel a bit out of place at first. Don’t let these thoughts take over because everyone has been where you are right now, and that feeling will pass. Once you get into training, your confidence will increase because working out gives you a great feeling. Remember, practice makes perfect!

Seek information

It can be wise to look up which exercises are suitable for your body and how to perform them; with this knowledge, you can be sure you’re doing what you should and doing it correctly.

Another solution is to train with a personal trainer. A PT helps you perform exercises correctly and has good knowledge of different exercises and how to execute them according to your body and strength.

Group training can also provide security, with guidance from an instructor and being part of a group doing exactly the same thing as you. It’s easier to feel secure when you immerse yourself in the exercises and find your rhythm.

Set up a detailed training program; as a beginner, it’s fine to get help from someone knowledgeable about training or from the Internet, which has many great articles about training for beginners.

Training program for beginners

When you feel ready, you can intensify your training with weights, extra resistance with bands, or more training sessions.

Set goals

It may be easier to start with home workouts first and find your inner strength. Set up a detailed training program here as well; if you're unsure about any exercises, look them up—there are many great instructional videos on YouTube, for instance.

Set realistic goals and remember them; feel free to write them down so you can refer to them in times when you're not as motivated and find that original inspiration to continue working towards a healthy body! How to run correctly?
